Antonio Larosa is a highly regarded designer and a well respected design educator. He is internationally recognized as an authority for the residential and contract design industry, assisting government agencies, trade shows organizers, colleges/universities, and publications. Born and raised in Italy, Antonio Larosa, studied architecture and design at the Milan Polytechnic University with design's masters such as Achille Castiglioni, Aldo Rossi, Marco Zanuso, Andrea Branzi, Giovanni Anceschi and Tomas Maldonado. Antonio attended many university classes/lectures with several other important architects and designers such as Ettore Sottsass, Andrea Branzi, the Alfa Romeo and Ferrari design teams, Aldo Rossi, Enzo Mari, Philippe Starck, Alessandro Mendini. In the mid 70es the leading Italian car magazine, Gente Motori, published an article about a new concept car (a very small city vehicle) designed by Antonio at the age of 12. Since then, Antonio has never stopped designing. In 1980 at the age of 16, he volunteered to help build homes for victims of a terrible earthquake near Naples, Italy. It was this experience that confirmed Antonio's decision to study architecture and design. Antonio also studied city planning at the University of Calabria, and archaeology at the University of Milan. Following graduation (Dottore in Architettura degree) and a working experience at Sawaya & Moroni, he moved to the United States working as a design consultant for several design companies before starting his own business as an independent designer/consultant. For the past 20 years he has worked on a wide range of projects from architecture and interior design, to furniture and product design, graphic design, and marketing/brand consultant for the furniture industry. For several years Antonio Larosa has been an adjunct faculty instructor of furniture design and interior design courses at Arizona State University and has previously taught in Italy. For over three years Antonio was professor and Chairman at SCAD. He was selected in 2008 as the Chair of the Furniture Design Department at the Savannah College of Art and Design with directive to save the department from closing. Two year after his arrival, Antonio was able to make his furniture program the best, largest, and most respected in the US. He also transformed the old and unsafe building into a brand-new state-of-the-art design facility. In the past ten years Antonio organized and coordinated some of the most successful trade shows and Italian design exhibits in the U.S., independently or for various government organizations. He is still active in the trade show business working as a consultant for major Italian furnishing shows. In 1998 he organized a unique and successful seminar at the SFMOMA with the founders of Memphis and Alchimia (Sottsass and Mendini). Tony Larosa is the interior design Espert Advisor for iParenting Media, the world's largest network and media company focused on parents and the entire family lifecycle. His work has been featured in publications from all over the world such as: Domus, Interior Design, Interni, Vogue, Contract Magazine, Design Journal, Furniture Today, Java, ABC News, Desert Living, Home Fashion magazine, Il Giornale Promosedia, Giornale Dell' Arredamento, CNBC, Club System International, Gente Motori, The Business Journal, Gap Casa, Die Tischlerfachrift, European Home & Garden, Taburet, Home Decor Buyer, Office Layout magazine,... So far, his smallest project is a paper-towel holder sold in major U.S. department stores since 1994. The most enjoyable project was a Barbie Chair (Mattel/Vitra) Antonio designed for his daughter. The largest project is a four square mile archaeological park in Italy. He is actively involved in charity work for several organizations in the US, and for many years he's been proud sponsor of the Phoenix Girls Chorus. He is a frequent judge for design competitions, a lecturer on broad-ranging design topics and creator/instigator of the successful Furniture Revolution Gallery at NeoCon in Chicago.
